Giving Your Bathroom a Zesty Feel!

The bathroom is often seen as a sanctuary, a place to unwind, but is sometimes an afterthought when it comes to re-decorating.  It may be well down the list of priorities and too often ends up with a boring colour scheme.  You won’t impress your visitors with a boring bathroom.

But there is a way to bring your bathroom to life with the innovative use of zesty colour.  Choosing colour can be fun.  By all means stick to the traditional black and white tiles, for example, but then shake things up a bit with pops of colour here and there.  Perhaps with a collection of luxuriously fluffy fuchsia-coloured towels artfully draped over the towel rail.  Canary yellow or lime green accessories add a stylish and delightfully bright atmosphere.  A sumptuous rug in cherry red looks fantastically decadent.

We choose colour to enhance our mood and lift our spirits.  Yellow makes us think of a bright, sunny day, emerald green is reminiscent of springtime, while bright blue can give a room a seaside feel; always a popular and classic choice.

Bright colours stand out really well against a white background and give a real zing to the room.  And the zing is what we’re after, not a headache, so use your colours carefully.  Although if the bathroom suite is all white you could go the whole hog and splash a zesty colour on the walls.  Really rich colours like deep purple or midnight blue can look wonderfully luxurious and work well very well with dark woods and if you feel this is for you, or you’d like to brighten up the walls with colour, then invest in some really good lighting.  Artful wall lighting or ceiling down lighters can bring emphasis to your new colour scheme and is much more interesting than the boring old centre of ceiling single light bulb!

So if you decide to go for it then give it lots of thought beforehand, look at colour charts and think about what kind of theme you’re looking for.  Have fun choosing your new accessories and pulling the look together.

Then, when you have done all the hard work and the new bathroom is visitor-ready, all that is left for you to do is fill the bath with scented bubbles, pour a glass of wine, then relax in the bath and admire your good taste!
